Millie Colchado, a student at Wilson Middle School, was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee following the accident and remains in intensive care, according to her mother, Eugenia.

Eugenia Colchado says she’s been told that Millie was waiting to cross the street after school when two cars crashed into each other, causing one of the vehicles to lose control and drive straight into the girl.

Millie is suffering from kidney, liver and bladder injuries as well as multiple fractures and bruised lungs, according to her mother.

“Our priority right now is to be there for Millie. I know many of you sympathize with me as a mother, I want more than anything to stay by my baby’s side through this long journey ahead,” Eugenia wrote.
