TOWN OF BUCHANAN — One person died Tuesday evening in a crash on County Highway CE.

According to a news release, the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was called about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday reporting a wrong way driver traveling east in the westbound lanes of County Highway CE near County Highway N, in the Town of Buchanan.

The wrong way vehicle, an SUV driven by a 70-year-old man from Buchanan, collided head on with a westbound pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old Appleton man, the sheriff’s office is reporting.

The driver of the SUV died on scene from his injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported via Gold Cross Ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Westbound lanes of County Trunk CE between County Trunk N and Buchanan Road were closed for approximately three hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Fox Valley Metro Police Department, Kaukauna Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Buchanan Fire Department, Combined Locks Fire Department, Buchanan First Responders, Combined Locks First Responders, and the Outagamie County Highway Department.
