BUCHANAN TOWNSHIP — Town of Buchanan Fire & Rescue will host and open house Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, in honor of Fire Safety Month and Fire Prevention Week.

The event will be at the Buchanan Town Hall, N178 County Road N, Appleton, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The department will be open to all visitors interested in learning more about the volunteer fire department.

There will be planned activities for all ages, including station tours, touch a truck encounters, a “future firefighter” obstacle course, a temporary tattoo station, fire hose station and a family home safety plan instruction area.

The first 100 children in attendance will receive a courtesy gift/goodie bag.

In addition, Fire Department members will be putting on an extrication demonstration for the attendees and showing what it takes to save a life during an accident entrapment scenario.

There will be lots of “glass breaking and metal crushing” fun for all.

As part of the event, the department has had many generous donors provide over a dozen free raffle baskets which include memberships to local facilities, household items, restaurant gift certificates, entertainment baskets and professional services.

There is no charge for the raffle and each guest will receive a ticket when they enter the event. Drawings will happen throughout the night.
