That part of the road is closed for bridge construction.

Chiefs from Buchanan and Combined Locks Responded immediately to the scene. While enroute, Chief 2901 requested ThedaStar helicopter be put on flying stand-by. A deputy had arrived on scene and advised that jaws would be necessary to free the patient from the vehicle.

Once Fire & EMS units arrived on scene, crews from both engine companies utilized both sets of rescue tools (Jaws of Life) and began a joint extrication effort to cut the vehicle apart to gain access to the patient for removal and transport. Due to the vehicle damage sustained from the crash, this was a lengthy process.

Due to no air ambulance availability, the patient was transported to a local trauma center by ground Ambulance where he will undergo treatment for serious injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
