APPLETON — Threatening calls to hospitals in Green Bay and Appleton that brought out large police responses Friday turned out to be hoaxes.

Appleton, Outagamie, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Grand Chute officers responded to a report of a potential threat about 12:30 p.m. Friday after someone reported to ThedaCare staff they were armed and intended to cause harm.

When officers arrived on scene, they secured the campus and established a perimeter.

Working closely with facility staff officers conducted a thorough search of the premises.

No threat was found.

About the same time, police in Green Bay learned of a similar threat at Aurora BayCare Medical Center on Greenbrier Road.

The hospital was put on temporary lockdown until police determined there was no threat.

Authorities are continuing to investigate both incidents.
