KAUKAINA — Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Kaukauna Community Players’ production of “The Wizard of Oz,” continuing with one show Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m. and two shows on Saturday, June 29 at 1 and 7 p.m.

Performances will be in the Bernie Hupperts Center for the Performing Arts at Kaukauna High School, 1701 Cty CE, Kaukauna.

The Wizard of Oz is the classic musical based on the book by L. Frank Baum. This family friendly show includes familiar songs like Somewhere Over the Rainbow and We’re Off to See the Wizard.

When asked why KCP chose Wizard of Oz for this year’s production, board member Zach Eggert said, “KCP and the co-directors chose The Wizard of Oz due to its nostalgia, amazing storyline, and positive messages throughout.

As one of the co-directors mentioned in a previous interview, “It’s a positive show.”

Eggert went on to say, “KCP knew that The Wizard of Oz was a great show to bring to the community because it would undoubtedly connect several generations of audience members through long-formed memories. Great-grandmas and great-grandpas, moms and dads, as well as aunts and uncles have their favorite parts of the storyline and will pass down their love of Oz and other musicals to future generations of patrons of the arts.

Since 1982, KCP has believed in giving people of all ages and previous performance experience the ability to perform in theater and provide quality entertainment for the community.

This show has provided opportunities through varied roles for a wide variety of age ranges.”

The large cast consists of adults and children from Kaukauna and surrounding communities, with both KCP veterans and newcomers. You can read cast biographies on the KCP Facebook page.

Kaukauna Community Players (KCP) is a 501c3 nonprofit that has been active in the Kaukauna community since 1982, putting on a musical every summer.

Eggert added that KCP would like to “thank our local community members, sponsors, program advertisers, and businesses displaying posters for their continued support.

We invite everyone to come see the show and support our talented all-local cast and crew! Bring a friend or three (theater is always better with friends).”

Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.ShowTix4U.com/event-details/84010 or with cash at the door one hour before each production.
