STEVENS POINT — The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association took a hard line Wednesday at its summer Board of Control meeting to crack down on bad fan behavior.

In a 9-1 vote, the governing body of high school sports in Wisconsin ruled that a spectator who is ejected from a contest, in addition to a 1-game suspension, must complete the free online NFHS Sportsmanship Class prior to attending the next home game for the school associated with the spectator.

The rule was one if dozens of changes voted on Tuesday.

Among other decisions, the board voted down a proposal 6-4 to implement the shot clock in 2026-’27, with an option to utilize it in 2025-’26 in non-conference by mutual agreement.

Had it been approved, it would have advanced to a membership vote at the 2025 Annual Meeting.
