KAUKAUNA — If you were out and about in Kaukauna over the weekend, you may have seen work progressing on the new playground equipment at La Follette Park.
It’s one of two park projects currently under way in the city.
Work has begun on the Horseshoe parking lot. Residents and park users can expect the lot to be closed Monday and Tuesday for grinding and grading, and Friday for pavement installation.
Also, work is under way at Lafollette Park. Residents will now start seeing the installation of playground equipment. The anticipated time frame of equipment installation is one week. City crews will be working on a perimeter sidewalk as install crews finish erecting the playground.
The estimated completion date is June 1, 2024.
The new playground equipment will have accessibility features including a universal swing and lower transfer platforms for the user to ease into each play structure, according to a news release from the city.
The ground surface will also be rubberized to allow mobility devices to access the equipment.
The existing playground equipment will still be available for use while the new equipment is being built.
