VANDENBROEK – Local officials had a briefing Tuesday with Outagamie County Emergency Management and it appears that the towns of Kaukauna and Vandenbroek and Kaukauna were one of the harder hit areas with power outages that will require line rebuilds.

Because of that, Kaukauna Utilities is advising it could be a day or two or more to get the power back up.

Officials currently do not have any updates from WE Energies.

Kaukauna Utilities currently is working with its mutual aid partners in the rural areas north of Kaukauna.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Kaukauna Utilities reports 19 outages affecting 644 customers.

The Vandenbroek Town Hall is open as a charging center and warming shelter from 3-7pm Wednesday.

The Freedom Town Hall also will be providing an emergency cell phone charging station that is open to the public from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The Town Hall is heated for people to warm up as well as charge their phones (please bring your own charger). We have restrooms for your use.

If you’re using a generator, officials recommend using standard safety measures when operating these generators.

1. Make sure they are placed outside and in a well ventilated open area.

2. Make sure they are a safe distance from any combustible materials.
