GRAND CHUTE – A fire in the dining room ceiling filled the Grand Chute IHOP with smoke Tuesday, and firefighters spent more than two hours on scene to make sure the fire was fully extinguished.

According to a news release, the Grand Chute Fire Department was dispatched Tuesday to IHOP, located on Wisconsin Avenue, for a report of a structure fire.

Callers told Outagamie County 911 Dispatchers that employees saw smoke in the restaurant as well as smoke coming from an outside vent above the ceiling.

City of Appleton, Village of Fox Crossing Fire, and Town of Greenville Fire Department units also responded in accordance with automatic aid agreements in place.

First arriving GCFD units found a fire above the dining room ceiling panels.

Fire crews extinguished the fire within minutes after arrival.

Fire crews worked to locate and extinguished the remaining pockets of fire, which had burned a hole in the building’s roof structures.

Despite the fire’s confinement to the small area of the building, smoke from the fire was present throughout the entire restaurant.

Fire personnel were on scene for approximately 2-1/2 hours ensuring the fire was completely extinguished.

No civilian or responder injuries were reported, and fire investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the fire.
