KAUKAUNA — Bald eagles have been active around the Fox Valley, and the 1000 Islands Environmental Center in Kaukauna is sharing tips on the best viewing locations.

Without the frozen conditions typical of this time of year, there is abundant open water for eagles to find food, so they are not seeing them congregate in large groups.

But, those that have established/returned to nests are active every day on our property and all along the Fox River.

The map above shows the preferred viewing sites at 1000 Islands.

The nature center also is sharing this interactive map showing 16 sites along the Fox River that make for excellent bald eagle views. LAUNCH THE MAP HERE

Outside of Wisconsin, the bald eagles at Big Bear Valley, California, have been getting attention across the country. Their eggs are expected to hatch in late February. WATCH THE LIVESTREAM HERE OR BELOW.
