KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna High senior Cole Mursau helped lead his Valley Swim Coop team (Appleton West, Kimberly, Kaukauna, and Hortonville) to a second-place finish Saturday at the Fox Valley Association Conference Championship meet.

Mursau took home two conference championships, one in the 50 Freestyle and the other in the 100 Fly.

“This was a huge step for the program as we finished in last place last year and have made our way up to second overall,” said Head Coach Joe Heiser.

With only 21 individual entries (teams are allowed 27), we didn’t have enough boys to fill out the lineup, Heiser said, but the boys put together some great races resulting in multiple individual conference champions and a relay conference champion.

The team is now preparing for its sectional meet this Friday in diving and Saturday in swimming with hopes of qualifying multiple individuals and relays for the state meet.
