KAUKAUNA — Candidates for local offices can begin circulating nomination papers for the April general election beginning Dec. 1, 2023.
There are two spring elections that may be scheduled in 2024 – Spring Primary (if needed) on February 20th and Spring Election on April 2nd.
The April 2 election also will be the presidential primary.
The following officers are to be elected:
- A Mayor, for the term of two years, to succeed Anthony Penterman, whose term will expire on April 16, 2024.
- A City Attorney, for the term of two years, to succeed Kevin Davidson, whose term will expire on April 30, 2024.
- A Municipal Judge, for the term of four years, to succeed John Van Drunen, whose term will expire on April 16, 2024.
- An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed Jennie Eggleston, Ald. Dist. No. 1, Wards 1, 2, and 3, whose term will expire on April 16, 2024.
- An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed John Moore, Ald. Dist. No. 2, Wards 4, 5, and 16, whose term will expire on April 16, 2024.
- An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed Mary Jo Kilgas, Ald. Dist. No. 3, Wards 6 and 7, whose term will expire on April 16, 2024.
- An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed Mike Coenen, Ald. Dist. No. 4, Wards 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, whose term will expire on April 16, 2024.
- A School Board member for a term of three years to succeed Josh Karl whose term will expire on April 22, 2024.
- A School Board member for a term of three years to succeed Sally Feistel whose term will expire on April 22, 2024.
NOMINATION PAPERS
The first day to circulate nomination papers is December 1, 2023, and the final day for filing nomination papers in the office of the City Clerk is 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
- Friday, December 1, 2023 – First day for candidates to circulate nomination papers for 2024 Spring Election.
- Friday, December 22, 2023 – Last day (5 p.m.) for incumbents not seeking re-election to file Declaration of Non-Candidacy with the City Clerk.
- Tuesday, January 2, 2024 – Last day (5 p.m.) for candidates to file nomination papers with the City Clerk.
- Tuesday, February 20, 2024 – Spring Primary (if required).
- Tuesday, April 2, 2024 – Spring Election.
