KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna High senior Alexa Kinas made it official this week, signing to play Division 1 basketball and continue her education at Loyola University Chicago.
Kinas held a ssigning ceremony Thursday at Kaukauna High School.
The multi-sport standout for the Ghosts is rehabbing from a serious knee injury last year and will miss her senior season.
Kinas says Loyola was one of her favorites early on in the recruiting process after visiting and receiving an offer to play there last fall.
Loyola’s head coach is Allison Guth, who is starting her second season at Loyola this fall after having 7 successful years at Yale.
Loyola is looking to build a power program, which last year moved to the Atlantic 10 conference, and they say they are very excited to have Kinas on board to be a part of achieving this goal.
Kinas has been a four sport athlete for all three years so far at Kaukauna, holding 12 varsity letters through her junior season.
She has participated in basketball, golf, track and cross country.
As a junior Kinas had earned 20 all-conference awards, five team conference championships, nine individual track conference champ titles, eight regional individual and team championships, 12 sectional individual and team championships, seven all-state awards, 14 time state qualifier (track, cross country and golf).
She helped lead the cross country team to their first Cross County state title in Kaukauna school history in 2020, tied the Kaukauna golf record for best 9 holes, broke the 400-meter school record in track a year ago, led the basketball team to a regional title the past two years, and holds basketball school records for most points a single game and season, most free throws made in a game, season and career, most assists and steals in a season, among others.
Academically, she has five individual and three team all-state academic awards and is a high honor student.
