KAUKAUNA — Aaron Schimke, who graduated in June from Kaukauna High School, was the men’s winner Tuesday in the 2023 Fox Firecracker 5k race.
Schimke finished with a time of 16:41 out of a total of 929 runners in this year’s race.
Madeline Lawler of Minneapolis was the women’s winner, 18th overall, with a time of 19:35.
Megan Kennedy was the top women’s finisher from Kaukauna, finishing 56th at 22:34.
Schimke, who will attend the University of North Florida in the fall, qualified in three events at the state track and field meet in June in La Crosse.
Schimke finished 10th in the 1600 meter run, 13th in the 3200 meter run and was part of the 4×800 meter relay that finished 7th.
