GREEN BAY — Authorities say a boat on Green Bay that was shooting off illegal fireworks caught fire Saturday morning.

According to a Green Bay Fire Department news release, units were sent about 10:20 a.m. Saturday to the Bay of Green Bay for a report of a boat on fire.

Reports indicated the boat had a manmade platform on the top of it and was being used to discharge illegal fireworks.

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department Marine Unit’s fire boat quickly responded and put out thr fire. Dollar loss for the boat is estimated to be about $500.

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was assisted by the Green Bay Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brown County Public Safety Communications, and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
