KAUKAUNA — It did have a fairytale ending, thankfully, but not until Kaukauna firefighters came to the aid of a mother goose that became stuck in the boardwalk Tuesday at the 1000 Islands Environmental Center.

The wayward goose was apparently taking a shortcut across the boardwalk to lay her eggs when her foot became lodged between two boards.

A photo in a social media post from the Kaukauna Fire Department showed the poor bird with her egg just nearby.

The fire department was able to free the goose, and reported that both the mother goose and egg were sent off to a rehab with hopes of a great outcome.
