WAUKESHA – The Carroll University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams are sending four student-athletes to the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships March 10-11.
Vanessa Uitenbroek, a Kaukauna High School graduate, qualified for the women’s event.
Uitenbroek, a junior, enters the weekend in the shot put event. Uitenbroek is the fourth-ranked thrower in the event thanks to her early-season throw of 14.64 meters at the UW-Oshkosh ‘Early Bird’ Invite.
Uitenbroek is now a two-time indoor national meet qualifier.
Hermsen, a graduate student from De Pere, Wisconsin, qualified in two events over the weekend, the weight throw and shot put. In the weight throw this season, Hermsen’s top distance of 18.85m came at the 2023 CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships. His season-high performance landed him as the seventh seed in the event, scheduled for Friday morning. In the shot put, Hermsen PR’d and re-broke his Carroll school record at the conference meet as well, and comes in as the 12th-ranked shot putter in the Nation. Hermsen is now a four-time indoor national qualifier.
Falk, a sophomore from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, qualifies for her first national championships in the shot put event. Falk landed a PR at the CCIW conference meet with a throw of 13.31 meters. Falk is the 14th-ranked thrower at the event and will compete on Saturday afternoon.
Quinn, a senior from Chicago, Illinois, is Carroll’s first-ever indoor pentathlon national qualifier. Quinn enters the event after re-setting her school record for the third time at the Ripon final qualifier. Quinn recorded a 3244-point performance but is seeded with a mark of 3265 due to the banked track at the national indoor complex. Quinn competes on all-day on Friday, with the first of five events beginning at 10:20 AM EST.
The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Birmingham-Southern at the Birmingham-Crossplex facility in Alabama.
