KAUKAUNA — “Santa,” a community group and high school students worked together over the holidays to raise money for classmates in need.

The Kaukauna High School Civic Engagement class, led by Anna Franzen, partnered with Gene VanderZanden to host Santa over the holidays at the high school.

VanderZanden then donated all the money he raised this winter through his work with Santa, which then was matched by the Kaukauna Lions Club.

In total, the donation was almost $2,000 dollars to the KHS Student In-Need Account.

VanderZanden has helped to donate a total of over $5,000 in the past few years.

The KHS Student In-Need Account helps students with certain expenses that they are not able to cover.

The main goal of the account is to ensure finances are not a barrier for students to get what they need to succeed in the high school experience.

This donation helps greatly to keep this account healthy.
