GRAND CHUTE — Police from multiple jurisdictions were able to safely disarm a man with a knife following an incident Friday at a Grand Chute hotel.

This was an isolated incident and the involved parties were known to each other, according to a news release from the Grand Chute Police Department.

Officers from the Grand Chute Police Department, Appleton Police Department, and Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office responded about 4:45 p.m. Friday to a hotel in the 3600 block of W. College Avenue for a welfare check on a 51-year-old Appleton man.

When officers made contact with the man, he was armed with a knife, according to police.

Officers negotiated with the man and were able to take him into custody without incident. He is currently being held at the Outagamie County Jail on related charges.
