Sophia West

KAUKAUNA — A Kaukauna girl will be in Colorado next month to take part in the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 14th Annual Be Beautiful Be Yourself fashion show

Sophia West will be a featured model in the show that takes place Nov. 12, 2022 in Denver.

The show is the largest Down syndrome fundraiser in the world, raising over $24 million for life-saving and life-changing research and medical care to date. After taking place virtually for two years during the pandemic, the fashion show will be back in person.

West, age 10, is passionate about everything she does, especially reading, swimming, cheerleading, horseback riding and modeling, according to a news release from the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. They say her two older sisters adore her, and her love for them is endless.

West is well known at school for her empathy, big heart and endless high fives.

She was a flyer for the Green Bay Elite Cheerleading Special Needs Team and has modeled for the Soar Fox Cities Tea Party Show and for the Bay Park Square Back- to-School Fashion Show, in which she modeled for Carter’s.

An estimated fourteen hundred guests, including West and other models with Down syndrome, celebrities, athletes, philanthropists and government officials, will attend, including Eric Dane (“Euphoria”, “Greys Anatomy”), who’s this year’s Quincy Jones Awardee, Josh Peck (“Drake & Josh”) Caterina Scorsone (“Grey’s Anatomy), Kevin McKidd (“Grey’s Anatomy”) Brooklyn Decker (“Grace & Frankie”)all scheduled.
