FISH CREEK — A woman was airlifted to a hospital after a dramatic ropes rescue following her fall Saturday evening in Door County’s Peninsula State Park.

Gibraltar Fire & Rescue was called out about 5:30 p.m. Saturday to Peninsula State Park for a report of a woman who had fallen down a cliff near Eagle Tower.

First responders quickly determined additional resources would be required to successfully extract the patient from her location, so a Mutual Aid Box Alarm (MABAS) was requested for assistance from our Mutual Aid partners throughout the county.

The location of the woman coupled with the rough and unstable terrain, along with the loss of daylight made this technical rescue extremely challenging, , according to Gibralter Fire and Rescue.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. the patient was transported by boat to an awaiting ambulance which then transported her to the Ephraim-Gibraltar airport where she was flown out by helicopter for further medical treatment.

Her condition was not publicly available as of Sunday morning.
