KAUKAUNA — A popular Kaukauna Mexican restaurant is being taken over by new owners while the current owners continue with a food truck operation.

La Patrona Family Restaurant, located at 215 W. Wisconsin Ave., remains open during the transition.

In a post on its Facebook page and later in Kaukauna Community Group, owner Maria Aguirre thanked the Kaukauna community for its support.

“Will pass on the restaurant to a great couple that would have more time and more energy to run the restaurant,” wrote Aguirre. “Me and my family are going to do something some calm and kinda more basic we are in the process of getting a food truck.”

She said with chronic staffing shortages, high food costs and kids in college, its so hard to run a restaurant and they now want to focus on a food truck business.

“With less employees, less hours we will come to Kaukauna once or twice a week if possible,” she said. “Thank you to everyone. We love Kaukauna.”
