LA CROSSE — Kaukauna sophomore Alexa Kinas advanced to the finals in one event, and missed the podium by only one spot Friday in an impressive showing at the WIAA Division 1 girls state track and field meet in La Crosse.

Kinas finished fourth in the 400 meter dash, advancing to the finals Saturday. She also placed ninth in the triple jump. She’ll compete Saturday in the 800 meter run.

Sophomore Katie Jenson also missed the podium by one spot, but had a strong discus event, finishing ninth.

Sydney Fauski, also a sophomore, finished 15th in the 3200 meter run. She’ll compete Saturday in the 1600 meter run.

On the boys side, senior Mason Bodenheimer finished 17th in the 400 meter dash prelims.

Sophomore Andrew Milhans finished 21st in the 800 meter run.

Junior Aaron Schimke finished 11th in the 1600 meter run. He’ll compete in the 3200 meter run Saturday.

Olivia VanZeeland competes Saturday in the high jump and Eve Van De Hey competes in the long jump.

THE STATE MEET:  The 126th Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys Track and Field Championships and the 51st Girls Track and Field Championships will be held Friday-Saturday, June 3-4, at the Veterans Memorial Stadium Complex on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
