FOND DU LAC — An autopsy is scheduled for Monday after a man’s body was found in the water of Lake Winnebago in Fond du Lac County.

A a passerby called authorties about 4 p.m. Sunday after finding what he believed to be a body partially submerged in the water along the shoreline of Lake Winnebago in the town of Friendship.

Deputies, detectives and an investigator from the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and confirmed the body was that of an adult male, according to a news release.

Preliminary identification has been made, however until the Medical Examiner confirms the identity of the victim, the name will not be released.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning, and a deputy will remain at the scene where the victim was found pending the outcome of the autopsy.

No further information can be shared at this time, as the case remains open and active.
