OSHKOSH — The Wisconsin State Patrol plans to use airplanes in tandem with ground-based officers enforcing speed limits and other traffic laws on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 in Winnebago County.
Weather permitting, aerial enforcement will be conducted this week in the following counties:
- Monday, April 18 – Washington County – I-41
- Tuesday, April 19 – Juneau County – I-90/94
- Wednesday, April 20 – Winnebago County – I-41
- Friday, April 22 – Kenosha County – I-94 Saturday, April 23 – Dunn County – I-94
Specially-equipped state patrol aircraft use highway markings and a timing device known as VASCAR to determine vehicle speeds.
When pilots detect speeders, aggressive or reckless drivers, they contact ground-based units to initiate a traffic stop.
