COMBINED LOCKS — The community is showing its support for the family a Combined Locks 11-year-old who lost her battle to cancer.

Brooklyn Jean Grishaber died Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Children’s Hospital Milwaukee, following her battle with Leukemia.

Grishaber, who attended Mapleview Intermediate School in Kimberly, loved Tik Tok, playing piano, watching her brother play sports, spending her summers at Evergreen Campground and hanging out with her family and many friends, according to her obituary.

Her death touched many in the Fox Valley, who have been sharing their thoughts and prayers on social media.

Hundres of people commented on a Facebook post from Jon and Cara Grishaber announcing the devastating news.

Grishaber was supported by many in the community during her ongoing health battles, and several organizations posted their condolences to social media.

The Fox Valley Metro Police Department posted a photo of the orange #BrooklynJeansTeam wristband.

“This is in memory of Brooklyn Jean, an 11 year old from Combined Locks who recently lost her courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her fight the color orange was worn to show her love and support. Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time,” read the post on the department’s Facebook page.

Others shared their support as well.

“Our community has rallied around Brooklyn and her family for nearly two years. Unfortunately, Brooklyn has lost her battle with Cancer. The Sheriff’s Office had the pleasure of meeting Brooklyn’s family this past holiday season. Our thoughts are with her family and our community during this difficult time,” read out post from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.

The funeral liturgy was held April 1, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks, with Father John Becker and Deacon Dave Hayden officiating. Interment will take place at St. Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
