APPLETON — The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of mail being stolen throughout the county and have found evidence of this occurring in Appleton and other areas.

Sheriff’s Office Investigators are currently working to identify suspects in these thefts, according to a news release.

Investigators say they believe the suspects are pulling up to mail boxes along the road and taking both outgoing and incoming mail.

These thefts are occurring at all hours of the day.

The sheriff’s office is encouraging residents to report any suspicious vehicles approaching mailboxes.

The also are discouraging placing outgoing mail in your mailbox if possible.

Residents should drop their mail in USPS boxes whenever possible.

Several victims have suffered identity theft as part of these thefts.

The Sheriff’s Office is also encouraging residents to sign up for United States Postal Service Informed Delivery.

With this service mail recipients will also receive a daily email showing what mail they should expect in their mailbox.

This can be found at www.USPS.com by clicking “Informed Delivery” in the top right corner of the website.

Anyone seeing a suspicious vehicle approaching mailboxes should call (920) 832 5000 immediately.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation may contact Sgt. John Schuette at 920 832 2188 or by email at John.Schuette@Outagamie.org.
