GREEN BAY — By now, we all know that Packers’ running back A.J. Dillon is a big fan of Door County, becoming the unofficial mayor over the summer.

But apparently he’s also become quite well versed in all sorts of Wisconsin traditions, including our own Kaukauna Klub cheese spread.

In a Twitter thread Wednesday, Dillon filled out a rather extensive bracket with 32 of Wisconsin’s favorite snacks.

In the end, it came down to a final between No. 3 seed Kaukauna spreadable cheese and No. 1 seed Wisconsin Cheese Company cheese curds, with Dillon choosing the curds.

Not bad a bad finish, though, considering the competition.

On the way, Kaukauna cheese beat out Secret Stadium Sauce in round No. 1, Merkts Cheese Spread in the Sweet 16, Renard’s cheese in the Elite 8, making it to the final four that also included marinated herring and Kwik Trip glazers.

Kaukauna beat out the glazers to make it to the final before falling to curds.

Perhaps more than his play of the football field, Dillon has endeared himself to fans with his wholehearted embrace of Wisconsin’s natural beauty, people and culture.

The reference to “mayor” goes back to this summer, when he proposed to his girlfriend in Egg Harbor.

In an interview in September with WISN-TV, Dillon said he wanted to be the mayor Door County, until he learned counties don’t have mayors.

Dillon said Door County reminds him of home.

“I’m from the East Coast and so I go to Cape Cod a lot,” he said.

When he first visited Door County, he said it’s not at all what he heard Wisconsin was like.

“It’s so nice and you’e up there on the water,” he said.

“I’m thinking I’m just going to start in Egg Harbor and work my way up and eventually just become the ambassador of the entire county,” Dillon said. “That’s my goal.”
