KAUKAUNA — Registration is now open for the Fox Firecracker 5k which will take place on its traditional July 4 race day in Kaukauna.

The race also includes a 5k walk, kids run and virtual 5k race.

The annual Fox Firecracker 5K Run/Walk and Kids Run is a family-friendly yet competitive event beginning at 7:30 a.m. in Hydro Park in Kaukauna.

The 5K participants will take to the streets of downtown Kaukauna and enjoy the views of the Kaukauna Library, 1000 Islands Environmental Center and the Fox River, crossing over many bridges.

Every finisher will receive a Finisher Medal (part 3 of a 4 part series) and an American flag.

This Fourth of July celebration will be complete with music, apple pie and the Echoes of Camp Randall (UW Madison Band) performing before and after the race.

Virtual Runners – Submitting Your Result
Virtual runners have the option to submit their time so that you can see how they rank, much like a traditional run.

Beginning July 4th you will be able to submit your time on the race website HERE.

Aaron Schimke, 16, now a senior at Kaukauna High School, finished third overall in the 2021 Firecracker 5K run walk.

Schimke finished with a time of 16:56.3.

Megan Kennedy, 17, was Kaukauna’s top women’s finisher, with a time of 21:59.0.

Kennedy, who finished 28th overall, is a member of Kaukauna’s first WIAA state champion cross country team.
