KAUKAUNA — William N. “Bill” Vander Loop, who served on the Kaukauna City Council and in the state Assembly, had died at the age of 89.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home at 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning at St. Katharine Drexel Parish – St. Mary Church, 119 W. 7th Street, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m.

Vander Loop, who died Dec. 28, 2021, served for eight years as an alderman for the city of Kaukauna and another eight years with the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the 5th District from 1991 to 1999, according to his online obituary.

Vander Loop worked for 38 years as a wood yard supervisor at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company in Kaukauna.

He was a member of the Kaukauna Credit Union board for 30 years, the Kaukauna Utility Board for 18 years, the Moose Club, and the Lions Club International. He was a Korean War Veteran, served as a member of the VFW Post 3319 of Kaukauna, and 66 years with the American Legion Post 258 in Little Chute.

He was Commissioner, State Vice Commissioner, District Commander and Post Commander during his years with the American Legion.

In 1957, he married Joyce Killian until her death in 1999.
