KAUKAUNA — It was a special Thanksgiving for well over 100 people who had a free meal from a downtown Kaukauna restaurant.

Maria Aguirre of La Patrona Family Restaurant said they served about 120 free meals either for sit down our take out from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.

Paid Partnership

The restaurant, located at 215 W. Wisconsin Ave. uptown, also took in about $260 in donations for its Adopt a Family program.

Kaukauna Mayor Tony Penterman was among those on hand to help out, posting on Instagram that he was in charge of cutting the pumpkin pie.

Also jumping in to help fill the need for families during Thanksgiving was the pop-up food pantry at the Kaukauna Public Library.

On Wednesday, the Busha Team with ReMax donated 50 pies to the food pantry. And The Trim Hunger organization donated dozens of hams for families to take for their Thanksgiving meal.
