MADISON — A two-run scoring triple by Rachel Ashauer put the Galloping Ghosts one step closer to their goal of a WIAA Division 1 state championship.
Kaukauna defeated conference rival Oskosh North, 2-0, Thursday, June 8, 2017 on Goodman Diamond at the University of Wisconsin Madison.
North had accounted for Kaukauna’s only two regular season losses, making the win that much more satisfying.
Kaukauna returns to the diamond Friday at about 9 p.m. for a chance to advance to Saturday’s title game.
In the pivotal fourth inning, Hailey Hastekin singled to center, then after a bunt attempt by Hanna Hestekin, Taylor Plate moved Hailey Hastekin to second with a single.
Ally Isselmann subbed in to pinch run for Hastekin, setting up Ashauer’s heroics, allowing Isselmann and Plate to score.
