MILWAUKEE – Mark and Jean Landreman, owners of Landreman’s Family Restaurant in Kaukauna, were honored March 13, 2017, as the Restaurateurs of the Year by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association. The Restaurateurs of the Year (ROY) award is the industry’s top honor.

The Landremans were announced as the winners at the Association’s annual Awards Dinner, held at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center in conjunction with the Midwest Foodservice Expo.

The Landreman’s posted a photo of the trophy Wednesday evening on the restaurant’s Facebook page HERE.

The Restaurateur of the Year award is given to an operator or couple who demonstrates participation and service to the restaurant association, success within their own restaurant and contributions to their community, according to a WRA news release.

The winner is selected at a private meeting of past Restaurateur of the Year recipients and is kept a secret until the official announcement at the Awards Dinner.

More from the news release:

In 1995, Mark and Jean opened Landreman’s Family Restaurant with the philosophy that great food should be served at reasonable prices. Loyal customers are fans of their all day breakfasts, popular fish fry, all you can eat spaghetti dinners as well as gluten free and lighter fare options. Their dessert offerings are highly acclaimed, particularly their pies and cheesecake. Their specialty wedding cakes have made many receptions more festive and delicious.

The Landremans are very active in their church and community. Mark has been involved with the Kaukauna Lions Club and Jean with the Lioness Club. They also have been supporters of Fox Valley Technical College’s Cultural Cuisine fundraiser and have volunteered their time mentoring local high school students in culinary arts and restaurant management.

Mark and Jean have proven their enthusiasm for Wisconsin’s foodservice industry through long-time support of WRA and its Education Foundation. Both are very active in the local chapter, having held all chapter officer positions (in some cases numerous times) and worked tirelessly toward the success of events like their chapter’s golf outing, the WRA Fall Shootout and the Midwest Foodservice Expo.

They have received the Big Four Chapter Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year (OROY) award in the past as individuals and in 2014 as a couple. They were honored by the WRA Education Foundation in 2013 as Salute to Excellence Restaurateurs of the Year.

At the state level, Jean currently serves on the WRA Board of Directors Executive Committee while Mark is a PAC Trustee for the Association. In addition, both Landremans have taken a leadership role in lobbying on behalf of small restaurants at the state and national level.

They are widely known for their tireless work ethics, enthusiasm and good humor. Humble and hard-working, they have the reputation for never saying no when asked to help out.

The Landremans have two daughters and three grandsons.
