KAUKAUNA — Rocko, the first K-9 to serve the Kaukauna Police Department died Wednesday.
The department made the announcement Friday on social media.
Rocko retired in 2023 after eight years serving the city alongside his handler, Officer Lucas Meyer.
Throughout his career, Rocko helped detect illegal drugs, apprehend dangerous subjects, and assist in searching for missing/fleeing persons.
After he retired from his patrol duties, he was an active member throughout the Kaukauna School District as Officer Meyer transitioned to the role of School Resource Officer.
As dedicated and hard working as Rocko was, he was also a companion to not only Officer Meyer but all of the officers at the Kaukauna Police Department.
Throughout his shifts, he would often wander throughout the halls of our police department looking for extra food scraps from his fellow officers. Rocko and Officer Meyer shared a special bond that was evident in their drive to work hard, do good, and protect the citizens of Kaukauna.
Rocko’s legacy will live well beyond his years, not only as our first K9, but as one of the best working K9’s in the area, the department said in its post.
They also sent a special thank you to the Kaukauna K-9 committee, Clever K-9s The All American Garage Inc. Kaukauna Veterinary Clinic and BluePearl Pet Hospital for your unwavering support.
