SEYMOUR — Three beloved horses perished in a barn fire Friday on a farm that hosts a popular fall festival near Seymour.
According to a post from Harvest Hill Family Farm the barn is now a total loss from a fire.
In addition to the building loss, three horses were trapped in the barn and were unable to get out in time.
The farm hosts a popular fall festival on weekends this time of year, but due to the fire is canceling all events this weekend.
The barn that had been in the family for more than 50 years and was filled with many memories, according to the owners.
The three horses, Zena, Dolly and Duchess, are missed already and are being mourned.
Eleven horses made it out of the barn as well as all of the cows. Their pet chicken who resides in the barn also survived.
The owners thanked the first responders and many others who arrived on the scene, including crews from Seymour, Pulaski, Shiocton, Bonduel, Oneida, Freedom, Black Creek, Nichols, Cicero and Navarino-Lessor.
“To the countless friends, family, and strangers who stopped to give hugs, who let us cry on your shoulders, who brought us meals today, who offered help, who offered to take our animals in if needed, thank you,” the owners wrote on Facebook.
