ASHWAUBENON — Ashwaubenon Public Safety and De Pere Fire Rescue were called to rescue a dog Friday that ventured out onto thin ice while chasing a squirrel.
The dog fell through the ice into the water where it was unable to get itself out, according to a news release.
Crews were able to quickly get in the water with their specialized ice rescue suits and rescue the dog.
The pooch was warmed and dried once on land and turned over to the owner without apparent injury.
