Grand opening and ribbon cutting to take place in late May 2026

OUTAGAMIE COUNTY – Outagamie County is asking residents to help name a new county dog park, tentatively scheduled to open during the last week of May. Community members are invited to submit name ideas and then vote on finalists through a two-phase process.

“This is a fun way for our residents to leave their mark on a new community space,” Thomas Nelson, Outagamie County Executive was quoted as saying in a news release. “We’re excited to see the creative ideas that come in.”

The previous park, near the Outagamie County Landfill, was forced to move following the announcement of the landfill expansion.

The new site, near Brewster Village in Appleton, was chosen for its excellent highway access, proximity to the county’s urban center, nearby pet-focused businesses, and its distance from other area dog parks, such as Kaukauna’s.

How the Naming Process Works (Two Phases)

Phase 1: Submit Name Ideas (March 2–March 20)

Beginning Monday, March 2, Outagamie County will accept dog park name suggestions through an online form.

To submit a name idea, you must provide:

  • Your name
  • Your contact information
  • The dog park name you’re suggesting

Name submissions close: Friday, March 20

After submissions close, Outagamie County will review entries the following week and narrow the list to no fewer than five (5) and up to eight (8) finalist names (depending on the number of entries received).

Phase 2: Community Voting on Finalists (April 6–April 24)

Starting Monday, April 6, the community will be invited to vote online for their favorite of the finalist names.

Voting closes: Friday, April 24

A new link will be provided for voting during this time.

Winner Announcement + Ribbon Cutting Invitation

Outagamie County will announce the winning name after the voting period ends and will contact the individual who submitted the winning name to invite them to participate in the ribbon cutting during the dog park’s grand opening.

Updates – including the finalist names and voting details – will be shared on Outagamie County’s official communication channels.
