VANDENBROEK — No injuries were reported Friday following a garage fire in bitter cold temperatures in the town of Vandenbroek.

In a social media post, authorities are using the incident to remind residents to properly dispose of ashes to help prevent similar incidents.

According to a news release, Vandenbroek Fire, Freedom Fire Department, Kaukauna-Vandenbroek First Responders and City of Kaukauna Fire Department Ambulance were sent about 9:30 a.m. Friday to the 2400 block of Artesian Way in the Town of Vandenbroek for a reported structure fire.

Dispatchers were told that the incident involved a detached garage located approximately 7–8 feet from the home.

Kaukauna first responders were the first to arrive and relayed to incoming units that no life safety issues were present and no flames were visible.

Kaukauna-Vandenbroek Fire arrived within nine minutes of dispatch. Upon arrival, crews observed exterior damage to the garage but no active fire.

Firefighters cooled the affected area, which had burned through to the interior of the garage, and conducted checks for extension. Ventilation of the building was completed to ensure safety. All units cleared at 10:20 a.m.
