KAUKAUNA — The Kaukauna Activities Department today announced that Kyle Dunphy will be the next head coach of the Kaukauna Ghosts softball program.
Dunphy has led Kaukauna’s JV softball team for the past 10 years, preparing athletes for the varsity level and forging strong relationships with our student athletes.
He takes over for hall-of-fame coach Tim Roehrig who retired after last season with six state softball titles in his career.
Dunphy has also been a teacher in the district for 21 years and is keenly in tune with the culture and expectations of our student athletes, according to a news release from the district.
Additionally, Dunphy is a High School Student Council Advisor and has coached Middle School boys and girls basketball and track & Field.
As a teacher, Dunphy was awarded the Fox Cities Chamber 2025 Excellence in Education Shining Star Award, an award that recognizes educators for their key role in inspiring students at all levels to prepare them for our future workforce.
Dunphy holds a Bachelors of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Educational Psychology.
Regarding his education, Coach Dunphy said, “I wanted to learn more about how students learn and how I can support them. I felt that emphasizing educational psychology would help the students and me in the future!”
Dunphy has a history of service to the Kaukauna Area School District and nation.
Dunphy served in the Air National Guard from 1996-2006 and was activated by the Air Force in 2003 where he served a total of three deployments to the Middle East.
All of this coaching experience, classroom expertise, education, and service has the Kaukauna Activities Department confident that Coach Dunphy is ready to lead our Softball program, the district said.
