MADISON — A Madison meteorologist called his mother while he was on air to tell her to take cover as a tornado roared overhead.
Meteorologists Blaise Keller and Alex Harrington were live on CBS News 3 tracking multiple tornado warned thunderstorms moving across central and southern Wisconsin.
That’s when spotters observed a tornado on the ground.
“I did not expect to have to call my mom on air and make sure that she was in the basement, because she was in the path of the tornado that likely moved through iowa county (rotation went right over her house),” Keller wrote on social media.
“I’m incredibly thankful that she, my step dad and the rest of southern Wisconsin is safe and that we haven’t received any reports of serious injuries or fatalities,”
The major damage was numerous trees down near the communities of Dodgeville and Sauk City.
