APPLETON – Outagamie County on Thursday announced the groundbreaking of its new community dog park, taking place on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 10 a.m.

The current park, near the Outagamie County Landfill, was forced to move following the announcement of the landfill expansion.

The new site, near Brewster Village, was chosen for its excellent highway access, proximity to the county’s urban center, nearby pet-focused businesses, and its distance from other area dog parks, such as Kaukauna’s.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place near Brewster Village at 3300 W Brewster Street, Appleton.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their dogs to enjoy this milestone moment together.

Funding for the new park comes primarily from Outagamie County capital funds generated through sales tax revenue, with additional support sought through grants from organizations such as the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau. The park is scheduled to open around Memorial Day weekend of 2026.

Designed to be a welcoming and inclusive space for dogs and their owners, the park will feature:

  • Dedicated off-leash areas for both small and large dogs
  • An agility training area
  • ADA-accessible amenities
  • An all-seasons restroom
  • Shade structures
  • A trail extension connecting to the Old Stone Bridge Trail

Adding even more excitement to the event, five adoptable dogs from Our Pack Animal Rescue will serve as honorary guests, helping to “dig in” and officially break ground on the new site. Stay for lunch –CurdCo will be onsite serving burgers, brats, and cheese curds, with 10% of all proceeds supporting animal rescue efforts in Outagamie County.

Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson expressed his enthusiasm for the project, “This new dog park reflects our commitment to creating vibrant, accessible spaces that strengthen our community and enhance quality of life. It’s a wonderful example of county departments working together to deliver a project that residents — and their pets — will enjoy for years to come.”
