KIMBERLY — A woman was stabbed Friday and a suspect was injured leading to an hours-long standoff before the suspect was arrested.

Both are being treated for their injuries.

According to a news release, officers from the Fox Valley Metro Police Department were sent about 9:50 a.m., Friday to 424 E. Kimberly. Ave. in the Village of Kimberly for a disturbance with a weapon call.

Initial information provided to the responding officers was that there were people inside the residence, someone had a weapon and there were others with injuries.

As more personnel arrived on scene it was learned that there was an adult victim who was stabbed, and another person was inside the residence armed with a knife.

The person who was armed with the weapon was also injured and was refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, according to police.

Due to the dangerous nature of this situation, the Outagamie County Law Enforcement Emergency Response Team (ERT) was requested.

For several hours, law enforcement attempted contact with the armed person and instructed them to come out of the residence.

This person did not comply with law enforcement’s lawful orders.

Drone teams were deployed to gain better information as to the situation within the residence. Area residences and businesses sheltered in place.

Law enforcement continued to attempt dialogue with the person inside the house.

It was also known that this person had severe injuries and needed medical attention. However, that person refused to surrender so that public safety staff could render aid to them.

During this time, law enforcement developed probable cause that the person inside the house with the weapon had committed a crime.

A warrant was obtained.

At about 3:41 p.m., law enforcement entered the home. A canine unit was deployed, and the person was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect, a 38-year-old man was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment.

Multiple criminal charges are forthcoming.
No law enforcement personnel were injured in this incident.

The other victim, an adult female is being treated for multiple stab wounds but is in stable condition.

Law enforcement will be at the scene for several hours continuing with their criminal investigation.
