KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna has a new alderperson.
At Tuesday night’s Common Council meeting, Clerk Kayla Nessmann swore in Marty Schumacher as the new District 4 alderperson.
Schumacher was appointed by the Council to replace Mike Coenen for the remainder of his term ending April 7, 2026.
Coenen retired in November after serving the city for 14 years.
The district includes portions of Kaukauna’s south side, including the areas around Quinney Elementary and areas south of CE. (District Map)
There will be one contested Kaukauna City Council race in the April 1, 2025 election.
The race for alder in District 1 will be a rematch of the 2023 race.
Incumbent Marty DeCoster faces a challenge from Liz Walker for a two-year term.
Kellie Antoine in Dist. No. 2, Brian Schell in No. 3 and Pennie A. Thiele in Dist. No. 4 will be running for re-election unopposed.
SCHOOL BOARD
One challenger is facing three incumbents running for three seats on the Kaukauna Area School District Board of Education.
Kimberly Schaefer is challenging incumbents Chad Berken, Melissa Kurey and Christine Bouressa.
The winners will serve three-year terms.
Other offices to be elected on the April 1, 2025, Spring Election ballot include Justice of the Supreme Court, State Superintendent of Public Instruction and a potential statewide Constitutional Amendment referendum.
