GREEN BAY — The Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday identified the two children whose bodies were recovered after the sailboat they were in with their father capsized in Green Bay.

The Medical Examiner’s Office performed autopsies Tuesday on the two children who were recovered the previous day from the waters of Green Bay south of Chambers Island in the town of Gibraltar.

The have been positively identified as 5-year-old Charolette M. Salnik and 3-year-old Joshua F. Salnik. The children were found together and they both were wearing flotation devices when they were found.

Search efforts continue in an attempt to locate their father, 32-year-old Billy J. Salnik, who remains missing, according to the Door County Sheriff’s Office.

Drone searches are being done Wednesday on the waters of Green Bay. Marine searches with K-9 assistance are planned for tomorrow and there are no plans to suspend search operations at this time.

According to Brown County Emergency Management, Salnick was last seen at 5 p.m. Saturday at Green Island near Egg Harbor with his two children, ages 5 and 3 on their sailboat. He said he was headed back to Oconto.
