KAUKAUNA — The April 3 snow storm that raced through Outagamie County plunged large parts of Kaukauna, the town of Kaukauna and the town of Vandenbroek into darkness as downed power lines cut power to hundreds of homes.

But help came quickly from line crews throughout the state, and power was restored throughout the area by later the next day.

Thursday is National Lineman Appreciation day, and Kaukauna Utilities is recognizing the crews that came to help.

In all, 23 line workers in from seven different municipal utilities arrived to help, primarily in the town of Kaukauna, including:

Kiel Utilities

Plymouth Utilities

Sheboygan Falls Utilities

Manitowoc Public Utilities

Sturgeon Bay Utilities

Wisconsin Rapids Water Works & Lighting Commission

Marshfield Utilities

Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin helped coordinate these efforts.
