KAUKAUNA — Two Tanner Elementary students battling serious health issues are benefitting from a recent Kaukauna Boys Hoops Club fundraiser.
As part of the Coaches vs. Cancer game at Kaukauna High School on Jan. 27, the club raised $1,743.60 during a Minute to Win It collection during halftime, with the proceeds donated to the families of two students at Tanner Elementary School.
The club matched the amount, so the same amount was given to the families of Paisley Gritzuk and Ryland Kautz.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Kaukauna boys basketball team met Paisley’s family after school and presented them with a check, while Ryland was on the phone from Seattle, where he is receiving treatment.
Kautz, a kindergartener at Tanner, was diagnosed in late June with inoperable brain cancer known as Altered Diffused Midline Glioma.

Gritzuk, a first-grader at Tanner Elementary, was diagnosed in 2016 with Neurocutaneous Melanocytosis and has been battling it ever since.
She has undergone multiple surgeries this year alone. Follow her journey through Facebook at Prayers and Positivity for Paisley.
