OSHKOSH — The Pyrothechnics Guild International earlier this year passed over Kaukauna to hold its 2023 convention, which now will take place beginning next week in Oshkosh.
But some of the convention’s new neighbors are having mixed feelings about the event.
The group’s annual convention will be held at the Sunnyview Expo Center fromAugust 12-18, 2023.
Open shooting of consumer and display fireworks takes place nightly, product demonstrations will occur, and two public community nights will feature multiple fireworks displays on 8/13 (rain date 8/14) and 8/18 (rain date 8/19). TICKETS/INFO
But in a social media post this week, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s office says they aware of mixed feelings about the event.
We routinely field numerous telephone calls around the Independence Day holiday regarding fireworks and the noise they produce. We expect that there may be people unhappy about the noise that occurs during this event. While any resident should feel free to call us at any time, please know that the proper avenue for complaints regarding this event should be directed to Winnebago County Executive Jon Doemel at 920-232-3450. He is happy to speak to residents about any concerns they have regarding this event.
