GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers have signed offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins to a contract extension, General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced Friday.
“We are very excited to be able to come to an agreement that keeps Elgton with the Packers,” said Gutekunst. “Since the moment he walked into the building, Elgton has been a core member of this franchise while displaying an uncommon versatility, unselfishness and toughness. He’s a tremendous leader and teammate and he has earned everything that has come to him.”
The deal is a four-year, $68 million extension and includes a $24 million signing bonus, according to ESPN Packers’ writer Rob Demovsky.
Jenkins has played in 52 games with 50 starts as well as all four postseason games he has appeared in since being selected by the Packers in the second round (No. 44 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft, according to a Packers’ news release.
He has started games at four different positions on the Green Bay offensive line (33 at LG, eight at LT, six at RT, three at C). In 2020, Jenkins became the first Packers offensive lineman to start a game at guard, center and tackle in the same season since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger (12 at LG, three at C, one at RT).
He earned his first career Pro Bowl selection that season, becoming just the third offensive lineman in team history to be named to the Pro Bowl within his first two seasons in the NFL (Derel Teteak, 1952; Charley Brock, 1940).
In 2019, Jenkins was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team, only the second Packers guard to be selected since 1974 (Daryn Colledge, 2006). Since 2019, the Green Bay offensive line has given up 117 sacks, the third fewest in the NFL over that span.
