KAUKAUNA — An ultra-rare, full-sized 1950s era Ristaucrat jukebox manufactured in Kaukauna has returned home the Fox Valley after being recovered in Europe.
According to a post in the Kaukauna Community Group, Aaron Schmitt of Appleton-based antique jukebox restoration parts supplier Victory Glass says he recently imported a shipping container of juke boxes and coin-operated equipment from Europe that included the rare machine.
The container included the Ristaucrat full sized jukebox, which was made by the Ristau family in Kaukauna.
The Ristaus built approximately 50 of the full-sized models, all of which were originally shipped to Europe.
“I found this one in the Netherlands last year and made a deal to buy and get it home,” Schmitt wrote in his post.
While the family later relocated its manufacturing operations to Appleton to produce more widely recognized small tabletop jukeboxes, the original full-sized units remain exceptionally rare.
